First Day of School (Times 2)

Well we all survived the first day of school (times 2).  Since the kids were enrolled at Kids Village, and we already paid for it, the school worked it out so the kids could attend for the month of August, which really was only 2 weeks, but I don't think we could have done it any longer than that!  Both kids had their first day at Kids Village on August 19th.  Since Liam is starting Kindergarten, the public schools didn't start for another week, so that the teachers can meet with them, and do their assessments.  So Liam had afternoon K for the first week at KV.  Rowan also went M/W/F in the afternoon at KV, and T/TH she went to her new school near home in the mornings.  (I know confusing).  Then after the first week, Liam started public school near home in the mornings.  So for the last 4 days in August he was going to school near home in the morning, then off to KV for the afternoon.  I had his lunch all ready, and he ate in the car.  The kids actually did amazing!!  But like I said, glad it was only 2 weeks?!  It was pretty crazy.

It was so cute, they had music and a red carpet to greet the Kindergarten class!
Think Liam is a little overwhelmed by all the attention : )
Waiting in line on the first day of K.
Taking off to class, he waved.  After 3 years of preschool I didn't think I would cry, but I did get teared up a bit...the school is so BIG, up to 6th grade there...he just seemed so grown up!  The second day I parked the car and started to bring him in, just to be sure he knew where to go, but he told me at the front entrance that he knew where to go, and I didn't need to bring him inside.  I trusted him, and sure enough he was fine!  So weird seeing our little boy grow up so fast!!!

First Day Of School

The kids were so excited to start school this year.  This is Liam's 3rd year of preschool, and Rowan's first year.  Our kids are complete opposites when it comes to their personality.  We took Rowan to her class first, and we said goodbye.  She was so into her own world, she didn't even realize we were leaving!  Liam on the other hand is painfully shy, and he clung to me, and didn't want us to leave.  Thankfully it only lasts about 10 min. and he warms up, and is totally fine.  Anyway, I think they will really have a great school year!!  (Click on Label 'First Day' below, and you can see all the first days of school)

Liam's First Day of Preschool

Liam had his first day of preschool today. We are trying the morning schedule this year. We thought maybe if he wasn't as tired, he might get a little more out of the experience. So far I do like the morning time since we can get it done, and then I have the rest of the day to make up my time at work. The only issue so far, is trying to get him to eat something before he's dropped off. He is just like his dad, in that he doesn't like to eat anything when he wakes up. I just don't want him getting too hungry while he's at school. Hopefully we can figure out something out!

Anyway below are a few pictures I got of his first day. I like to get one outside the door, but as you can see it's pretty bright out!! If you want to compare his picture from his first day last year, check this link.

I think he had a pretty good day. It was kinda funny when I went to pick him up, I didn't see him in the room, but they do rotate the kids, so I wasn't too worried. The teacher said he was in the bathroom. One of the girls opened the door to the bathroom which is in the classroom. He was standing with his pants down, trying to get some soap out of the pump. I stepped into the bathroom to assist him, and the girl kept opening and shutting the door!! I quickly put his pants up...it's a good thing he's too young to be embarrassed by that.

He told G'ma that he thought his teacher was really really pretty, and that the girls in his class were cute. So, I would say his first day at school was a success!

Liam's First Day at Pre-school

So Liam had his first day of preschool this week. Unfortunately, our 'old' camera was on a manual focus setting that I didn't realize till later, but thankfully I had my phone with me and grabbed a few pictures. I couldn't get him to look at me either...but I still think he's cute!

Here is Liam standing outside his school...

Here is Liam in his classroom...

They had some toys out for the kids to play with while the parents dropped them off in class for the first day...a few of the kids were crying, as to be expected. Liam looked rather confused, and a little withdrawn. This is the first time he's been in a setting like this with other kids. The room was pretty chaotic, and I stayed with him until class started. I'm not sure he even noticed me leave the room...he sat here playing with the toys.

When I picked him up he seemed happy to see me. Some of the things he said he did was play with crayons, saw some kids...he also mentioned that he made Miss Emily cry, which I hope is just in his 2 yr. old imagination!
