Click Clack Moo

We took the kids to the yearly kid's play at Salt Lake Acting Company. This is Liam's 3rd time going, and Rowan's first time going. They started doing a kid's play about 4 years ago, and it was so successful, they do one every year now. The kids have been super excited to go, and have been talking about it since they announced they were doing a play based on the book 'Click Clack Moo'. We always buy the book too, so they can know the story before we go.

We got our tickets a couple months ago, but I forgot to check the seats...when I realized they were front row, Mike and I were a little concerned because of how wiggly Liam was the first time he went at age 3. This was Rowan's first time going to a play, so we had no idea how she would behave.  When Liam was her age, he only sat still for about 10 minutes, then he wanted to run up to the stage, then run up and down the isles.  I called the theater when I saw they were front row seats to see if we could move to the 2nd or 3rd row, but the only seats they had available were pretty far back.  So we just decided to give the front row a try, and if they acted up, I would own the problem.  Anyway, we had nothing to worry about because both kids were angels!  They both sat still in their seats, they payed attention the whole time, and clapped and laughed too.  I kept staring at their faces as they watched the play.  It was a great experience for us to see them enjoy it. They were probably still full from their brunch that we took them to before the play, but we didn't even need to bribe them with treats to be good.

First 6 Hrs.

So on a whim, I decided to test the waters with potty training Rowan today. The first few hours she went through 5 pairs of underwear.  And the last few hours, she has remained dry and went 4 times in the potty!!  Hopefully, I'm not jumping the gun when I say she really seems to be ready for this, and we are very excited to not have to buy diapers anymore.  The first time she went in the potty, she screamed I peed a lot in the potty...she was quite proud of herself.  Anyway, it is progress, and we are very proud of her too!

Fall Pics

The kids were finally feeling better today, AND the weather was beautiful...the only downside is the time we were able to get them all dressed up and do a photo shoot, the lighting was just too bright. But, hopefully we will have some more opportunities before winter hits, but these are a few we got today.

End of Summer Hurrah!!

So the kids loved the Alpine Slide so much in June, we decided we should go again before winter starts.  We did pretty much the same thing as on Father's Day, except we met some good friends for the brunch in the morning, and then instead of hiking up the huge hill to the slide with the kids, we decided to take them on the ski lift.  Liam was quite nervous, and proclaimed he didn't want to go on it, but decided to try it anyway.  I was a little surprised he did because he was in near tears when we suggested it.  Once he sat down, he relaxed and thought it was soooo fun!  Once Rowan saw them on the lift, she was really excited to go too.  She has no fear!  Liam ended up loving the lift ride so much, he asked to go on it again, but since the line to the slide was so long, we were short on time, and decided to take them to the bouncy house next.

After they played for a short time, I thought they would like ice-cream this time, and last time Mike did find out they have a shop in the building, but once we finally found it, Liam said that is NOT what he wanted, he wanted what he had last time.  So we had to find our way out of the building, which was a pain because I had Rowan in the stroller and the elevator was so slow, but we finally made it out of the building, and we got them their shaved ice.

Also, they have a NEW ride this season called the Mountain Flyer!!  It looks really fun, and we found out that Liam is tall enough to ride it with an adult, but we decided because of time, that we would do it next year....Can't wait!!

Kittens

So the story goes, Mike was out riding bikes with Liam, and they stopped at the neighbors house to talk. They had some kittens, and Mike mentioned that I used to work with a rescue group, and could maybe help find homes for them. Sadly the rescue groups are up to their eye-balls with their own rescue animals, so I don't like to 'dump' the ones I need help with on their lap. So, I figured I would do the bulk of the work before handing them off for adoption. Since Mike is allergic, they have to be in the basement for most of the time. But, we bring them up to play and get some exercise and attention. They are super sweet kittens, and VERY friendly. At first the kids didn't want anything to do with them, but they quickly warmed up to them, and really love playing with them now. It has been a really good experience for them. I don't plan to get back into rescue work right now because with two little ones, I just don't have the time for it. But, as they get older I look forward to having them help out volunteering for our local rescue groups.

There are 2 males.  Liam helped me name them: Huckle and Spidy and 1 female: Sally.  They will be available for adoption after their spay/neuter on the 14th..If you know anyone looking for a kitty, let me know!!
