What's That Squeaking?
This morning I was in the office checking my e-mail, and I heard this squeaking sound. I thought maybe there was a hurt animal outside, so I went to the side yard, nothing there. Came back in, thought maybe an animal was stuck in the dryer vent. I turned on the dryer with no heat, and the sound did not change. I listened some more, and it sounded like it was coming from inside the wall in the bathroom. I worried that maybe an animal was stuck in the wall somewhere, but then I realized that more than one animal was making the sound. I am guessing that some birds decided to make a nest inside the vent to the bathroom.
Not sure what to do in this situation, I googled 'birds in bathroom vent' and surprisingly this is a fairly common problem. There is mixed advise regarding what to do if this should happen to you, but it just seems to me that this problem could be avoided if people spent an extra $5 or $10 when building their homes, and just got the appropriate cover that keeps small animals and birds out in the first place. Anyway, the best and most humane advise I read so far is to just wait for them to leave, then clean out and cover the hole. One site said that once you can hear the babies they are about 6-10 days old (maybe older) which means they should be ready to leave in 11-15 days. In the meantime they will squeak every 20 minutues or so during the day when their parents come to feed them....jeesh, and I thought feeding Liam every 3-4 hours was rough! Anyway, we hope that they do leave on their own, and we can take care of the hole without too much trouble. Moral of the story- When building, it is wise to use venting guards that keep wildlife out! OR, check your home and fix any holes before they move in!

What's Up.
So last weekend we took this super cute video of Liam, and I went to download it on our computer, and the computer crashed! It has been having issues for a while now, and the previous day an auto-update popped up. I asked DH what I should do with it, he said to close it, I did, but something happened and the computer just stopped working. Thankfully we were able to get it running enough for him to back up all our stuff and he's going to wipe it clean and start over with more memory and a new drive. I have not wanted to touch the thing all week for fear it would crash again, so the video will have to wait for now. As well as our pictures we got from Liam's photo shoot last week. They came in the mail today, and they are AMAZING! We were a bit worried how well they would turn out because he got tired about 1/2 way through and started to get fussy. We knew she got a couple of good ones but we had no idea how the ones with us and him turned out. She got over 30 great shots and put them in a slide show on a DVD for us. We chose the song "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles for the background music. There are so many great pictures on there we decided we will just have to buy the originals, which isn't cheap, but so worth it. Anyway, once the computer is up and running I will post his video and new pics.

Gretchen's Groom
Gretchen was looking a bit shaggy, so today she went in for her grooming. When I got out her car harness this morning she got so excited because she knew she was going somewhere. I told her if she knew where she was going, she wouldn't be so excited. Since she has such long hair, and it grows so quickly, and I'm so busy (and a little lazy), we like to have it cut pretty short. The first picture is of today's groom, and the one in the car is a picture of her on the way home from a groom that she had last year. I found that picture on our computer, and wanted to post it because she looks so happy to have the wind on her face. It is true that dogs love to put their head out the car window!
